In the world of medicine, crutches help you stand, walk and move without putting your full weight on your recovering leg, knee or ankle. A crutch on the other hand is a source or means of support or assistance that is relied on heavily or excessively, per Merriam-Webster Dictionary. And what I perceived from the Holy Spirit recently was that:
The LORD is removing crutches.
Whatever we’ve been relying heavily or excessively on due to fear, laziness, idolatry; etc. will be taken away in this new era of God’s glory.
Is getting help from people wrong?
Absolutely not! It’s 100% Biblical for us to have helpers as well as gifts, talents, dreams, and ideas. However, none of these things are supposed to replace our dependence on the Father. Keep in mind that God is our very present help (Psalm 46:1) and with the judgment that’s scheduled for this nation, we can’t afford to make the same mistake King Asa did in his time of trouble.
“And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him: ‘Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hand.’” - 2 Chronicles 16:7
When you exclude God from one thing, you’ll likely start excluding Him from everything
Before 2025 truly gets underway, I encourage you to take inventory to make sure there aren’t any areas of your life where you frequently rely on the strength of your own hands or someone else’s gifts and anointing before you seek the LORD. Jesus didn’t tell us to abide in Him occasionally and He made it crystal clear that apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). My advice: when you find yourself at a loss on how to handle something, recite the last part of King Jehoshaphat’s prayer in 2 Chronicles 20:12.
“O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor we do know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
